摘要: German explorers and scientists began the study description of East African amphibian fauna. Later, Arthur Loveridge played a leading role in collecting, describing analysing East African amphibian fauna; his 1957 checklist for region is still only one available. Since independence in early 1960s, Kenya, Tanzania Uganda developed different degrees capability to conduct research on amphibians. While globally there has been recent upsurge concern over declining populations general increase awareness importance amphibian biodiversity, this interest not always so apparent. Limitations to amphibian Africa include lack basic taxonomic studies, field guides keys to the amphibian fauna, few natural history museums, dearth information about distribution and biology There need determine conservation status amphibians, encourage studies populations, amphibians development and conservation policies agendas.
