摘要: Viral respiratory tract infections, also known as colds, are the most common infection in humans. The majority of these infections caused by rhinoviruses. Rhinovirus deposition nose or eye initiates infection. virus attaches to host cell intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) receptors back throat. Subsequent viral replication triggers release inflammatory mediators and activation neurogenic pathways, which lead symptoms. Symptoms occur within 10 16 hours after entry into peak on days 2 3 Symptom duration is typically 1 week, although 25% cases last longer. Understanding chronology events important timing treatment. Because rapidity symptom onset, early treatment key reducing illness. Also, may reduce risk transmission.
