摘要: Cherenkov radiation provides a valuable way to identify high energy particles in wide momentum range, through the relation between particle velocity and angle. However, since angle depends only on material's permittivity, material unavoidably sets fundamental limit coverage sensitivity of detectors. For example, Ring Imaging detectors must employ materials transparent frequency interest as well possessing permittivities close unity multi GeV thus are often limited large gas chambers. It would be extremely important albeit challenging lift this control angles preferred. Here we propose new mechanism that uses constructive interference resonance transition from photonic crystals generate both forward backward radiation. This can flexible with any desired range velocities. Photonic overcome severe for detectors, enabling use arbitrary values provide promising option suited identification at enhanced sensitivity.
