摘要: Background: The admissions and outcomes of intensive care management severe head injured patients depend not only on the standard effectiveness treatment obtained but also available technical human resources. We aimed at auditing indeed admitted in our non-neurosurogical centres. Patients Methods: This was a retrospective review demographic, clinical with neurological data all severely to Intensive Care Units (ICU) Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe University Maiduguri Nigeria, for three year duration from January, 2007- December, 2009. Results: total 258 cases were retrieved analyzed within period under review. Two hundred thirty one (n=231, 89.53%) males twenty seven (n=27, 10.47%) females. ages ranges between 1-70 years old mean 31.29 (SD=15.66). length stay (LOS) admission discharge ranged 1-29 days 5.80 (SD= 6.06) while, LOS death 1-24 3.62days (SD=4.14). Majority (91.8%) causes injury due RTA mortality rates 27.9%. Conclusions: A well equipped ICU would greatly facilitate can be an achievable goal developing countries, if there is rational allocation resources despite prevailing challenges. therefore, recommend establishment general encourage physicians develop interest even non-neurosurgical ICU.
