Communicating the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis: results of a survey among Greek neurologists.

摘要: In the frame of current treatment options for multiple sclerosis (MS) and recommendations early intervention, we investigated practice attitudes neurologists towards MS-diagnosis communication in Greece. We constructed sent out a 22-item questionnaire to practising different employment settings geographic regions Overall, 217 (37.41 %) 580 replied. The vast majority (94.9 informs patient definite MS diagnosis, 73.6 % do so immediately, but only 41.7 use term sclerosis. Furthermore, strongly agreed that timing diagnosis depends large extent on individual patient’s personality (62.5 mental state (52.3 %). Most (78.7 inform relatives about presence patient. cases where disclosure was delayed, 59.5 noted they did not observe any changes as regards trust or confidence their patients them. also education level (72 (51.9 %), at time influenced who fully understand meaning diagnosis. This survey provided some useful new findings with respect communication; however, questions how possibly much communicate warrant further cross-cultural investigation.
