Suicidal thoughts and behavior (STB) and psychosis-risk symptoms among psychiatrically hospitalized adolescents.

摘要: Abstract Background Individuals in the early stages of psychosis have a markedly high risk for suicidal thoughts and behavior (STB). It is not well understood if STB among those with psychosis-risk symptoms accounted by co-occurring psychopathology (e.g., depression), unique experiences specific to psychosis-spectrum symptomatology hallucinations, delusions), or combined effects different factors. This cross-sectional study explored link between symptoms, disorders, STB. Methods record review included 569 adolescents (mean age = 14.83) admitted psychiatric inpatient hospital due exhibiting indicating they were an imminent threat themselves others. Upon intake hospital, participants completed diagnostic interview self-report measures ideation, suicide attempt history, symptoms. The primary analysis used linear regression predict ideation from symptom scores, controlling known characteristics associated including disorders (i.e. depressive, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, psychotic disorders), biological sex, race. Results Psychosis-spectrum predicted above beyond significant depressive disorder diagnosis as non-significant PTSD, full-threshold psychosis, Item-level correlations demonstrated that several significantly lifetime attempts. Conclusions indicate within this sample psychiatrically hospitalized youth, uniquely linked These findings suggest attention experiences, may be clinically important better assessment treatment youth.
