摘要: Metaproteomics is one of a suite new approaches providing insights into the activities microorganisms in natural environments. Proteins, final products gene expression, indicate cellular priorities, taking account both transcriptional and posttranscriptional control mechanisms that adaptive responses. Here, we report proteomic composition < 1.2 μm fraction microbial community from Oregon coast summer surface waters, detected with two-dimensional liquid chromatography coupled electrospray tandem mass spectrometry. Spectra corresponding to proteins involved protein folding biosynthesis, transport, viral capsid structure were most frequently detected. A total 36% all best matches SAR11 clade, other abundant coastal clades also well represented, including Roseobacter clade (17%), oligotrophic marine gammaproteobacteria group (6%), OM43 (1%). Viral origins attributed 2.5% proteins. In contrast phosphate transporters not highly this nutrient-rich system. However, for amino acids, taurine, polyamines glutamine synthetase among proteins, supporting predictions carbon nitrogen are more limiting than environment. Intriguingly, was methanol dehydrogenase originating further support recent reports metabolism one-carbon compounds by these streamlined methylotrophs might be an important feature ocean biogeochemistry.
