摘要: Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] is one of four herbaceous dedicated bioenergy crops the U.S. Department Energy identified as critical to annually produce billion tons dry biomass. Of these crops, sorghum unique it a drought-tolerant, annual crop established from seed that readily tractable genetic improvement. The purpose this study was assess yield potential and stability sorghums grown across diverse production environments in USA. For study, six genotypes (one cultivar, five hybrids) were trials seven locations states for 5 years (2008–2012). Variation fresh attributable not only genotypes, but also effects year, location, year × location. Even with highest yielding genotype, environmental conditions major factor determining given year. This variability affects consistency biomass supply ethanol production. In general, southeastern USA had mean yields weight weight, indicating area may be most reliable A significant variation detected among moisture content, brix, revealing sufficient within exists continued improvement certain hybrids are more biomass/bioenergy With germplasm proper environments, will valuable tool goal sustainable each
