摘要: Horses are recognized as important hosts for the zoonotic parasite Toxoplasma gondii, mainly because meat of infected horses can be a source human T. gondii infections. However, baseline knowledge on equine infections is limited and lacking from many countries. This seroepidemiological study was set in Ukraine, country where little known about prevalence any host species. We investigated 78 serum samples horses, collected Kyiv Lviv regions using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) modified direct agglutination test (DAT). The ELISA intended to detect presence total antibodies against DAT detects specific anti-T. immunoglobulin G antibodies. cutoff titer seropositivity 40. Two were omitted statistical analyses due disagreeing results. Altogether 16 remaining 76 seropositive with ELISA, yielding an apparent seroprevalence estimate 21.1% (95% confidence interval 13.0–31.3). Five tested positive both DAT, 11 only, one only. For 64 results agreed; percent agreement 84.2 Kappa statistic − 1.5208, indicating poor agreement. Our add global epidemiology exposure level major parasite, well discussion challenges applying serology horses.
