摘要: Abstract To explain the increase in area of contact, and hence adhesion, a steel ball sliding on indium, McFarlane Tabor produced an analysis based interaction normal tangential stresses applied during sliding. In their work, showed experimentally that load range 0–100 g coefficient friction 1 8 ′' indium is strongly dependent load, reaching very high values at light loads. present shown to apply only fully work-hardened metal experimental evidence given which shows work-hardens strains set up when flat surface indented by with loads 100 g. Using empirically determined relation between indentation adopting similar treatment , observed friction-load behaviour explained terms incomplete work-hardening contact region material relative motion surfaces begins. The extended case metal, it becomes independent criteria for occurrence slip seizure are obtained. Finally, argument give qualitative explanation breakdown Amontons's law harder metals presence thin film lubrication.
