摘要: Neanderthals occurred widely across north Eurasian landscapes, but between ~ 70 and 50 thousand years ago (ka) they expanded southwards into the Levant, which had previously been inhabited by Homo sapiens. Palaeoanthropological research in first half of twentieth century demonstrated alternate occupations Levant Neanderthal sapiens populations, yet key early findings have largely overlooked later studies. Here, we present results new examinations both fossil archaeological collections from Shukbah Cave, located Palestinian West Bank, presenting quantitative analyses a hominin lower molar associated stone tool assemblage. The tooth shows clear affinities, making it southernmost known specimen this population/species. Middle Palaeolithic assemblage is dominated Levallois reduction methods, including presence Nubian points cores. This direct association between technology, demonstrating that technology should not be considered an exclusive marker
