摘要: Erithalis consists of 8–10 species endemic to the Caribbean Basin. DNA sequences chloroplast (trnF-trnL) and nuclear non-coding spacers (ITS ETS) indicate that is monophyletic. ETS was most informative marker, resolving some interspecific relationships. Analyses combined data revealed two weakly supported clades: one composed E. fruticosa nk;harrisii, a sister clade remaining species. Since fossil records presence Erithalis-like pollen from Eocene Gatuncillo Formation Panama, it possible an initial colonization may have been Central America. Through trans-oceanic dispersal, likely by birds, colonized islands. Some inter-island colonizations were accompanied speciation low molecular divergence, supporting recent radiation across these
