摘要: The white-streaked grouper (Epinephelus ongus) is an important fisheries target in the region around Okinawa. This species forms spawning aggre- gations at specific grounds last-quarter of moon April and/or May. Using a tag-and- release method, we estimated migration distance and degree unified movement groupers asso- ciated with migration. In total, 1157 E. ongus individuals were tagged released their homegrounds inthenon-spawningperiodand350 known ground (Yonara Channel) spawningperiod. For fish that releasedat home grounds, 23 recaptured during periods. ground, six outside ground. distances from to ranged 2.2 8.8 km. There was no significant relation- ship between total length (TL) for both males females. Tagged inhabiting same different points separated by over several hundred meters. Furthermore, point up kilometers. These results suggest move- ments associated are not high ongus, which contradict some previ- ous studies suggesting coordinated migra- tion other Epinephelus spp.
