摘要: Emission of BVOC (Biogenic Volatile Organic Compounds) from plant leaves in response to ozone exposure (O3) and nitrogen (N) fertilization is poorly understood. For the first time, emissions were explored a forest tree species (silver birch, Betula pendula) exposed for two years realistic levels O3 (35, 48 69 ppb as daylight average) N (10, 30 70 kg ha(-1) yr(-1), applied weekly soil ammonium nitrate). The main BVOCs emitted were: α-pinene, β-pinene, limonene, ocimene, (E)-4,8-dimethyl-1,3,7-nonatriene (DMNT) hexanal. Ozone increased emission reduced total leaf area. effect on was stronger when short-term metric (concentrations at time sampling) rather than long-term one (AOT40) used. area not able compensate stimulation emission, so that responses whole-plant level similar. Nitrogen area, decreased α-pinene β-pinene hexanal DMNT emission. increase changed significance most compounds. mitigated effects while combined additive synergistic. In conclusion, have potential affect global via direct rates changes
