摘要: Abstract From June to August 1991, there was an outbreak of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in intensive care unit a general hospital Sao Paulo, Brazil. We obtained 14 isolates from patients, 11 tracheal aspirate, and 3 surgical wound exudates. These strains were typed by serotyping, pyocin typing, pulsed-field electrophoresis (CHEF) chromosomal DNA (chrDNA), the different typing methods analyzed. three demonstrated seven identical strains. also performed extensive antibiogram (33 drugs) all isolates. The incidence resistance aminoglycosides, extended-spectrum β-lactams, quinolones very high among isolates; however, profile differed significantly Our results suggest that unique strain caused several crosstransmitted during this period time, emergence antimicrobial has been occurring before after establishment epidemic selective drug use. chrDNA fingerprinting proved be versatile precise for epidemiologic investigations P. infections.
