摘要: Soft sediment deformation structures (SSDS) are preserved in a homogenous dolomudstone lithology of crinkly laminated and heterolithic facies the Paleoproterozoic Vempalle Formation Cuddapah Basin. This basin was formed on eroded basement rocks Eastern Dharwar Craton, India. Deformation this succession include combination breccia folds, intrastratal faults, cracks, dikes belonging mostly to brittle regime associated with ductile imprints. Based observed SSDS, their lateral homogeneity traceability, draping by undeformed strata, proximity faults as well apparent lack storm signatures gravity induced mass movement, these fine-grained deformed beds can be tentatively ascribed large intermediate depth earthquake Richter magnitude scale 4 above, generated during reactivation owing plume related mantle activity. The occurrence SSDS emphasizes role downwarping along pre-existing planes weakness Archean evolution Basin, analogous subsidence present-day continental margin.
