摘要: The cancer stem cell (CSC) model is describing tumors as a hierarchical organized system and CSCs are suggested to be responsible for recurrence after therapy. identification of specific markers therefore paramount importance. Here, we show that high levels lipid droplets (LDs) distinctive mark in colorectal (CR) cancer. This increased content was clearly revealed by label-free Raman spectroscopy it directly correlates with well-accepted CR-CSC CD133 Wnt pathway activity. By xenotransplantation experiments, have finally demonstrated CR-CSCs overexpressing LDs retain most tumorigenic potential. A relevant conceptual advance this work the demonstration cellular organelle, LD, signature CSCs, addition molecular markers. further functional characterization could lead soon design new target therapies against CR-CSCs.
