摘要: [1] A statistical approach is used to assess the quality of Multiangle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) version 22 (V22) aerosol products. Aerosol optical depth (AOD) retrieval results are improved relative early postlaunch values reported by [Kahn et al. (2005)], which varied with particle type category. Overall, about 70% 75% MISR AOD retrievals fall within 0.05 or 20% × paired validation data from Robotic Network (AERONET), and 50% 55% 0.03 10% x AERONET AOD, except at sites where dust mixed smoke commonly found. Retrieved microphysical properties amount categorical values, such as three size groupings: "small," "medium," "large." For size, ground-based sun photometer Angstrom exponents statistically corresponding interpreted in terms retrieved categories. Coincident single-scattering albedo (SSA) fraction spherical too limited for validation. V22 distinguishes two bins, depending on type, bins SSA (absorbing vs. nonabsorbing), well nonspherical particles, under good conditions. Particle sensitivity varies considerably conditions diminished midvisible AODs below 0.15 0.2. On basis these results, specific algorithm upgrades proposed being investigated team possible implementation future versions product.
