摘要: Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most common cause of dementia, is an irreversible and progressive neurodegenerative disorder. It affects predominantly brain areas that are critical for memory learning characterized by two main pathological hallmarks: extracellular amyloid plaques intracellular neurofibrillary tangles. Protein kinase C (PKC) has been classified as one cognitive kinases controlling learning. By regulating several signalling pathways involved in tau pathologies, it also plays inhibitory role AD pathophysiology. Among downstream targets PKC embryonic lethal abnormal vision (ELAV)-like RNA-binding proteins modulate stability translation specific target mRNAs synaptic remodelling linked to processes. This MiniReview summarizes current evidence on ELAV-like memory, highlighting how their derangement can contribute last aspect emphasizes potential pharmacological activation a promising therapeutic strategy treatment AD.
