摘要: Background: To determine in a large series of surgical biopsies the role and significance immunohistochemistry adequate accurate characterization malignant tumors. Methods: A retrospective study 20,000 consecutive reported Section Histopathology, AKU 2003. Data was obtained by retrieving filed biopsy reports section. Results Conclusions: Out biopsies, 6534 (32.67%) were neoplastic. 4726 neoplasms (72.33%) malignant, 1808 (27.67%) benign. Immunohistochemistry performed on 29.49% tumors, 4.97% benign Immunos only 2.82% routine squamous cell carcinomas adenocarcinomas various organs, 1.9% infiltrating breast carcinomas, commonest tumors females. In contrast, immunos 97.12% non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, 97.94% Hodgkin’s 98.09% spindle neoplasms, 87.96% small round blue childhood, 87.30% neuroendocrine 84.37% cases melanomas. addition, all undifferentiated able to resolve issue over 89% such cases. also 54.74% metastatic Lymph nodes organs which i.e. 96.50% lymph node followed CNS renal with 33.01% 25.92% respectively.
