Response to dexamethasone in psychotic depression

摘要: The utility of the dexamethasone suppression test (DST) in diagnosis psychotic depression was examined by comparing responses 11 and 18 nonpsychotic depressed inpatients. Nine patients (81.8%) 10 (55.6%) showed nonsuppression (nonsignificant). Using 0800h cortisol level alone, we found that significantly more (7 11; 63.6%) than (3 18; 16.7%) nonsuppression. Nonsuppression at postdexamethasone may be a useful biologic marker for with depression. Implications these data nosologic status are discussed.
