摘要: For many years, the consensus of scientific community was that cognitive mechanisms were located primarily, if not exclusively, in phylogenetically newest portions human brain, cerebral cortex. Although limbic system has been thought to be involved memory and there have other notable exceptions this opinion (e.g., Penfield & Roberts, 1959; Schuell, Jenkins, Jimenez-Pabon, 1965), it only within last several years neuroscientists general given serious consideration role subcortical structures various functions. Now, increasing evidence clearly indicates nuclei thalamus basal ganglia play important roles language, memory, attentional processes, perhaps These recent discoveries challenge established doctrine regarding brain-behavior relations demand we construct new models incorporating participation these specific functions such as language.
