摘要: A numerical analysis of the flowfield characteristics and performance degradation an airfoil with leading edge ice accretions was performed. The important fluid dynamic processes were identified calculated. Among these separation bubble at low angles attack, complete on pressure surface resulting in premature shell, drag rise due to shape, effects angle attack separated flow field. Comparisons experimental results conducted confirm calculations. computer code which solves Navier-Stokes equations two dimensions, ARC2D, used perform Modified Mixing Length turbulence model developed produce grids for several shape combinations. Results indicate that ability predict overall characteristics, such as lift drag, is excellent. Transition location accurately determining shape. Details downstream regions requires some modifications. Calculations stalled periodic shedding vorticity generated aft accretion. Time averaged values compare favorably information. accounts history may be justified.
