摘要: Riparian strips are used worldwide to protect riverbanks and water quality in agricultural zones because of their numerous environmental benefits. A metric called Strip Quality Index, which is based on the percentage area riparian vegetation, evaluate ecological condition. This index measures potential capacity filter sediments, retain pollutants, provide shelter for terrestrial aquatic species. research aims improve this by integrating ability intercept surface runoff, major cause pollution erosion productive areas. In Canada Nordic countries, rapid drainage from snow melt spring rains often practiced avoid production delays losses. reduces efficiency buffer promoting soil due concentrated runoff. new proposed Efficiency Index (RSEI), incorporates not only land cover information, but topographic hydrologic variables model intensity spatial distribution runoff streamflow, capability sediments pollutants. The performed over La Chevrotiere River Basin Portneuf municipality Quebec (Canada) using hydrological modeling, data extracted very high resolution WorldView-2 imagery as a unique source inputs. results show that RSEI provides better characterization ecosystem services terms pollutants filtration prevention will allow management practices such leveling. Further, it managers information monitor changes prioritize intervention areas, ultimately targets ensure optimal allocation private or public funds toward most inefficient threatened strips.
