摘要: A survey of the toxicity sediments throughout Tampa Bay estuary was performed as part National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Status Trends Program. The objectives were to determine spatial extent severity identify relationships between chemical contamination toxicity. Three independent tests performed: a 10-d amphipod survival test whole with Ampelisca abdita, sea urchin fertilization sediment pore water Arbacia punctulata, 5-min Microtox t bioluminescence solvent extracts sediments. Seventy-three percent 165 undiluted pore-water samples significantly toxic relative reference test. In contrast, only 2% in tests. causes not determined. However, concentrations numerous trace metals, pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), ammonia highly correlated Concentrations many substances, especially total dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (DDTs), endrin, PCBs, certain PAHs, lead, zinc, occurred at that equaled or exceeded have been previously associated Keywords—Pore Sediment testing Sea Amphipod
