摘要: Fasted endothermic vertebrates must develop physiological responses to maximize energy conservation and survival. The aim of this study was determine the effect 1-wk. fasting in 5-wk. old ducklings (Cairina moschata) from whole-body resting metabolic rate body temperature phenotype tissues mitochondrial coupling efficiency. At level whole organism, mass-specific decreased by 40% after fasting, which associated with nocturnal Tb declines shallow diurnal hypothermia during fasting. cellular level, induced a large reduction liver, gastrocnemius (oxidative) pectoralis (glycolytic) muscle masses together fuel selection towards lipid oxidation ketone production liver lower glycolytic skeletal muscles. mitochondria, oxidative phosphorylation activities an up-regulation efficiency (+ 30% on average) present integrative shows that fasted is mainly achieved overall activity increase efficiency, would, association hypothermia, endogenous stores
