摘要: The study of colour in nature has generated insights intofundamental evolutionary and ecological processes, researchinto traits is a rapidly growing field (Kelber & Osorio, 2010).Theongoinginterestinbiologicalcolorationhasinpartbeendrivenby the increased availability key technologies, including spec-trometry photography, concurrent advances methodsfor analysing data, such as visual models (e.g. Endler M Kelber, Vorobyev, 2003; Stevens, Parraga,Cuthill, Partridge, Troscianko, 2007). While these developmentsare positive for field, increasingly complex analyses beingrun on ever greater amounts data heighten need forcomprehensive methods reporting diligent management(Alsheikh-Ali, Qureshi, Al-Mallah, Ioannidis, 2011; Nekrutenko T Van Noorden, Whitlock, 2011). Astudy may be considered truly reproducible when it satisfies threebroad criteria: (1) are reported completely, (2) arepubliclyavailable archived, and (3) chain modification ofraw documented preserved. completely repro-ducible research FitzJohn et al., 2014) laudable goal, theconsiderable demands imposes researchers means that willoften, practice, unattainable. Nevertheless, even partialreproducibility through relatively simple practices completemethodsreportingandpublicdataarchivingisoftremendousvalue. Our aim was to explore state reproducibility studyofbiological coloration, suggest simpleways inwhich maybe improved. We first outline common studying bio-logical coloration present guidelines comprehensivemethods reporting. then how well some theseimportant criteria have been literature. alsoquantify publicly archived code andsuggest useful tools increasing ofcolour trait more broadly.
