摘要: The objective of this study was to evaluate the thermal biology Mexican lizards Sce- loporus aeneus and Sceloporus bicanthalis (Phrynosomatidae). is oviparous, has an elevation range approximately 2400-3000 m. It replaced at elevations above 3000 m by its viviparous sister species, S. bicanthalis, whose elevational extends least 4250 Selected body temperatures (T,s) were measured on a laboratory gradient. Mean selected 35.5 34.9 C, respectively. T,,,'s for these two high species thus similar T,,e low Sceloporus, observation that supports static view physiology lizards. For neither did temperature vary as function sex or reproductive status females. Body during activity in field not related time year females, although male one site had higher than mean daily maximum air declined from 22 C 2800 m, 19 3200 8 4100 sites 32, 29 These active lower their "preferred" temperatures, presumably because increasingly limited opportunities elevations.
