摘要: Summary: Poisoning from Organophosphates (OPs), especially Dichlorvos (DDVP) has become endemic due to the increasing use in house hold and agricultural pests control, with most marked effects nervous system. However, it is evidenced that natural antioxidants are efficacious against OPs toxicity. Thus, this study investigated possible antidotal efficacy of Nigella sativa oil (NSO) Dichlovos induced oxidative neuronal damages Wistar rats. DDVP was administered at sub-chronic daily dosage 8.8 mg/kg.bw for 7 days a post-administration NSO 1 ml/kg.bw subsequent days. The rats were euthanized on 15 th day, blood sample collected via cardiac puncture, centrifuged plasma used biochemical analysis total antioxidant capacity (TAC), reduced glutathione (GSH) reactive oxygen species (ROS), while frontal, occipital cerebellar cortices medulla removed histo-morphological examinations. results showed significant (P≤0.05) decrease TAC GSH, increase ROS recorded, some vacuolation around neurons frontal following exposure. post treatment observed be recovery activities neuro-architectural integrities. can concluded could damages, dichlorvos accidents.
