摘要: Three-dimensional complex biomechanical interactions occur from the initial steps of tumor formation to later phases cancer metastasis. Conventional monolayer cultures cannot recapitulate microenvironment and chemical mechanical cues that cells experience during their metastatic journey, nor complexity with other, noncancerous cells. As alternative approaches, various engineered models have been developed specific features each step metastasis tunable microenvironments test a variety mechanistic hypotheses. Here main recent advances in technologies provide deeper insight into process dissemination are discussed, an emphasis on three-dimensional factors as well between multiple cell types.
