摘要: Purpose: To evaluate the benefit of gold nanoparticles (AuNP) in radiosurgery Age related Macular Degeneration (AMD) using Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. AMD disease causes vision loss due to a leaky vasculature endothelial cells. Radiosurgical therapy aims destroy this while minimizing delivered dose healthy tissues eye. Methods: Dose enhancement ratio (DER) macula thin layer has calculated by MC radiation transport (10–100nm) placed on bottom at 2.4cm depth water parallelepiped 3×3×6cm3. This modeled considering various concentrations ranging from 5.5–200mg per gram cell (volume 10×10×2um3). The x-ray source is 100kVp 4mm diameter beam tilted 0°-30° with respect lens. Results: DER for concentration 31mg/g (shown experimentally feasible) and 10–100nm sizes about 1.8. Tilting 4mm-beam does not reduce but allows avoid surrounding tissues. distribution vicinity significant within 30um, peaked interface. inside outside irradiation 4mm-field are same actual more than one order magnitude lower field. Compared 100kVp, usage filtered spectra enhanced flux region 20keV-40keV shows further 20%. neighboring organs such as retina/optic nerve reduced accordingly. Conclusion: results simulation provide confirmation potential previous analytical calculations. study provides impetus improve treatment effectiveness radiotherapy.
