Guidelines for defining the use of electricity in marine electrotrawling

摘要: Electricity can be used to facilitate fish and invertebrate capture in both marine freshwater environments. In freshwaters, electrofishing is largely for research or management purposes. environments principally the form of electrotrawling commercial fishes benthic invertebrates, particular common sole (Solea solea L.), brown shrimp (Crangon crangon razor clams (Ensis spp.). The terminology definitions describe electrical stimulus characteristics experimental set-ups have, so far, been diverse incomplete, hampering constructive discussion comparison studies. This paper aims (i) harmonize existing terminology, abbreviations, symbols, (ii) offer best practice recommendations publishing results, (iii) provide a concise comprehensible reference work people unfamiliar with this topic. By incorporating electric pulse trawling related studies, based on terms where possible, we framework future suggested guideline recommended by ICES Working Group Electrical Trawling as approach improved communication standards stimulation publications.
