Evidence of tetragonal to orthorhombic distortion of HoNi2B2C in the magnetically ordered state

摘要: Using high resolution neutron scattering on a powder sample of HoNi2 11B2C magnetoelastic effects are observed in this compound for the first time. At low temperatures tetragonal lattice is distorted along [110] direction, which long-range ordered Ho moments aligned. The length unit cell direction shortened by about 0.19% compared to its direction. This distortion considered be related existence commensurate c-axis modulated antiferromagnetic structure.
