摘要: Urban transportation planning came of age with the passage Federal-Aid Highway Act 1962, which required that approval any federal-aid highway project in an urbanized area 50,000 or more population be based on a continuing, comprehensive urban process carried out cooperatively by states and local governments. This was first legislative mandate requiring as condition to receiving federal capital assistance funds. The U.S. Bureau Public Roads (BPR) moved quickly issue technical guidance interpreting act’s provisions.
