摘要: Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance Rubus imperialis Cham. Schl. (Rosaceae) is frequently used in traditional medicine as hypoglycemic, antinociceptive and antiviral remedy. Materials methods Swiss albino mice were distributed eight groups for acute treatment with extract (24 h). The doses selected 50, 250 500 mg/kg b.w. administered by gavage alone or plus to CPA (50 mg/kg b.w.) intraperitoneal injection. Control treated a similar way. Analyses performed using the comet assay, on leukocytes (collected 4 24 h after treatment) liver treatment), micronucleus test (MN) bone marrow cells. Cytotoxicity was assessed scoring 200 consecutive polychromatic (PCE) normochromatic (NCE) erythrocytes (PCE/NCE ratio). Results conclusion main compounds identified saponins steroidal compounds, niga-ichigoside tormentic acid being major compounds. Tested of showed no genotoxic effects from peripheral blood cells assay. However, MN an increase frequency micronucleated at two higher tested, indicating that this has clastogenic/aneugenic doses. On other hand, all evaluated, three tested promoted inhibition DNA damage induced CPA. Despite chemoprevention observed, clastogenicity/aneugenicity observed suggested caution about either continuous high-dose usage aerial parts humans.
