摘要: The first issue of the Journal Dairy Science in 1917 opened with text speech by Raymond A. Pearson, president Iowa State College Agriculture, at dedication new dairy building University Nebraska (J. Sci. 1:4-18, 1917). Fittingly, this was birth a research facility and more importantly, beginning journal devoted to sciences milk production manufacture products from milk. Metabolic modifiers cow metabolism enhance, change, or interfere normal metabolic processes ruminant digestive tract alter postabsorption partitioning nutrients among body tissues. Papers on became frequent around 1950. farming changed radically between 1955 1965. Changes housing feeding moved cows outside, heifers all stages lactation, including dry period, were fed as single group. Rations wetter shift corn silage major forage many rations. Liberal grain met requirements high-producing increased per but introduced challenges; for example, managing These changes led introduction strategies that identified expanded use modifiers. Research directed characterizing problems created group feeding. went beyond included environmental factors additives reduce incidence severity conditions pathologies. New collaborations began cattle specialties broadened our understanding workings cow. then now plays an enormously important role dissemination findings scientists worldwide address existing technologies.
