摘要: Abstract Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors of the head and neck region are uncommon may be associated with neurofibromatosis or occur in a sporadic manner. This is retrospective review 17 patients these who were treated at single institution. Analysis clinical pathologic factors that influenced outcome was performed. There 9 men 8 women. Seven had history neurofibromatosis. Radiotherapy implicated as possible etiologic factor 4 patients. The most frequently involved site. Overall survival 5 years 52%. Survival improved for women low-grade tumors. Age, tumor site, size no impact on survival. worse than those form disease ( P = 0.02). calculated by method Kaplan Meier. significance such results based log rank test. Local recurrence correlated resection margin status. No local recurrences occurred negative margins received adjuvant radiotherapy. Tumor grade predictive development distant metastases. Negative essential obtaining control, addition radiotherapy beneficial this group. Salvage surgery some (Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg 2000;122:667-72.)
