Suicidal ideation and aggressiveness in school-aged youths

摘要: This study set out to explore the frequency and correlates of suicidal ideation in a community sample school-aged adolescents living northeastern area Italy. The involved mixed male-female 1,000 adolescents, corresponding 10% young population aged 15-19 district. We investigated psychological distress through revised Symptom Checklist (SCL-90-R), from which we also derived our indicators on suicidality (items concerning hopelessness ideation). Propensity aggression was measured with an Italian version Aggression Questionnaire. Females scored significantly higher than males all SCL-90-R subscales, exception hostility subscale. In sample, 30.8% females 25.3% reported having thought about suicide; one adolescent 20 high intensity (5% total both genders).
