摘要: Glossina palpalis gambiensis and G. tachinoides are the main vectors of human animal trypanosomoses in West Africa. In some parts their distribution area, they co-exist sympatry, but little is known about interactions. This study aimed to explore respective flight height daily activity when co-existing or alone. Attractive targets were used, made a black/blue/black cloth covered with adhesive film, so that all tsetse landed caught. The was conducted two areas South Burkina Faso: Kartasso, upstream Mouhoun river, where p. only occurring; Folonzo, on Comoe both species occur. Out more than 3,800 tsetses caught total, occurred at higher densities (84 vs 16% total densities). mean capture 55 cm for tachinoides, 65 gambiensis. As comparison, Kartasso alone, 46 cm, these differences being statistically significant. average, females altitude males, showed similar profile day. These results discussed light nature forest gallery, possible interspecies competition behaviour relation limited energy metabolism capacities, also landing behavior, linked host feeding detection. observations have consequences control tools releasing attractive odours, which may contrasted efficacy depending species.
