摘要: With the recent finalization of IEEE's 802.16e-2005 standard and upcoming test certification WiMAX products, mobile broadband services are becoming a reality. As an IP-based solution, technology will provide converged video, voice, data to users. For future Department Defense (DoD) operations, this emerging has potential significantly increase situational awareness collaborative communications in tactical environments where users typically constrained low data-rate networks or bandwidth-constrained terrestrial circuits for last-mile communication. Increasing bandwidth capabilities these support dissemination real-time streaming video high-resolution imagery maps, as well communication including messaging, white boarding between Although can enhance forward-deployed Warfighters, deploying Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) solution environment faces several unique implementation challenges. To investigate challenges network, DISA is developing live pre-WiMAX demonstration network using currently available, unlicensed wireless equipment. Leveraging DISA's market analysis effort, paper addresses operational considerations environment. Examining different deployment scenarios, deployments face describes how they be addressed. Finally, discusses additional locality-based tracking backhaul imagery, sensor data.
