摘要: There has been a simmering debate as to whether evidence exists for differential processes of lexical access function and content words. This centered around the frequency effect (higher word reducing times words but not words). Previous work used decision paradigm, which shown reflect more than times. We measured naming in sentences read meaning. Our findings confirm that is indeed faster predicted by neurolinguistic theory electrophysiological evidence, this difference can be attributed predictability (Cloze value) familiarity (log frequency). also show differences two types holds only lower at all higher discuss implications results theory.
