摘要: The fields excited within a planar dielectric waveguide by an externally incident electromagnetic field are studied in this paper. fills the half space z > 0, while < 0 is air. formed nonuniform, anisotropic, nonabsorbing, medium. Different choices of tensor for medium yield different waveguides. Certain models which particularly relevant to electro-optic diode waveguides and laser amplifiers some detail. An arbitary will, general, excite not only finite number propagating modes, but also background continuum modes. Integral representations total transmitted as well reflected obtained. representation can be decomposed into sum discrete field, evanescent field. Explicit evaluation depends on solution pair integral equations. In practice, differs little from constant surrounding material. approximate found case, numerical results will appear following
