摘要: Hip fractures are associated with high excess mortality. Education is an important determinant of health, but little known about educational inequalities in post-hip fracture Our objective was to investigate mortality and examine whether comorbidity or family composition could explain any association. We conducted a register-based population study Norwegians aged 50 years older from 2002 2010. measured total according attainment 56,269 hip patients (NORHip) the general Norwegian population. Both absolute relative people without were compared. There gradient both sexes. Compared those primary education only, age-adjusted risk (RR) tertiary 0.82 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.77-0.87) men 0.79 CI 0.75-0.84) women. Additional adjustments for Charlson index, marital status, number children did not materially change estimates. Regardless attainment, 1-year three- fivefold higher compared peers fracture. The differences considerably larger than Absolute after mediated by composition. Investigation other possible mediating factors might help identify new targets interventions, based on lower reduce
