摘要: e process of political democratization in Latin America during the 1980s created a rare f opportunity to explore economy elections outside North Atlantic basin. X Using interrupted time-series analysis, I impact on macroeconomic performance eight American nations. The findings indicate that has fluctuated with electoral calendar but contrary traditional business cycle literature, as well conventional wisdom about America, competitive have enhanced, rather than undermined, capacity leaders address outstanding problems management. analysis suggests relationship between democracy and economics is captured more adequately by "political capital" model its theoretical alternative.
