摘要: Eight adult patients with visceral leishmaniasis acquired in mediterranean countries were treated a prospective study combined immunomodulating and antiparasitic regimen consisting of low-dose interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) pentavalent antimony. The clinical outcome, hematological parasitological parameters, the duration treatment number cycles as well cumulative dose antimony applied, have been evaluated. led to complete resolution symptoms cure all cases without major side effects. Combined resulted significant reduction (19 vs. 31 days, p<0.02) (11.67 19.30 g, compared historical controls (n=6). No relapses occurred after median follow-up 9 months (range: 2–28 months). We conclude that combination therapy is tolerated highly effective leishmaniasis. addition IFN-gamma standard may reduce antimonial drugs, shortens period probably reduces relapses.
