摘要: Throughout the night, brief periods of arousal are common and not necessarily indicative problematic sleep. Awakening without an easy return to sleep (“night-waking”), however, can be for parents children alike. Approximately 30% preschool-aged wake at least once per night require parental intervention (“help or assistance”). Although parents’ responses children’s night-waking (i.e., strategies) determine course over time, very little is known about strategy use among children. The purpose present dissertation was lay foundation upon which a better understanding relationship parenting built. In order accomplish this goal, four measures were created: Children’s Night-waking Behaviour Scale (CNBS), Vignettes (NVS), Parents’ Thoughts Affect Questionnaire (PNTQ), Strategies (NSS). Rigorous measurement development protocols followed. These measures, as well parent-report questionnaires used assess construct validity, completed by sample 203 mothers (M age = 32.4 years, SD =5.1) 3.4 1.0). All displayed adequate good reliability promising evidence convergent validity observed.
