摘要: Background/aims Statin is the most promising agent in improvement of blood lipid profiles, and a substantial risk reduction subsequent cardiovascular events leads to rapid increase current prescription rates. However, statin use or lower total cholesterol has been associated with an increased cancer risk, although some deny such association. Whether positive statin-cancer association exists not remains matter debate because causal association, if any, may offset anticipated cardioprotective benefits from statins. So far, no gastric systematically highlighted literature. Methodology Original studies concerning effect statins on incidence were searched PubMed Central published between 1993 2008. A manual search was additionally performed though reference lists retrieved manuscripts. Pooled upper gastrointestinal ratio (RR) 95% confidence interval (CI) independently calculated by random effects model, provided Cochrane Library software Review Manager 5. Results Six publications considered finally eligible, three for risk. proved significant (RR; 1.37, CI; 0.57-3.25) nor there any evidence 1.20, 0.94-1.53) even cancer. Conclusions These results suggest that had short-term incidence. Further investigation long-term associations warranted.
