Viscosities of magmatic silicate liquids; an empirical method of prediction

摘要: Based on the compilations and calculations of Bottinga Weill (1972), it has been discovered that viscosities multicomponent anhydrous silicate liquids can be estimated more rapidly with equal precision using only four partial molar coefficients SiO 2 . The addition a fifth coefficient extends method to hydrous compositions somewhat less precision. Comparisons experimental data are illustrated for ranging from order one poise 1013 poises "lunar basalt" terrestrial rhyolites "hydrous granites ternary minimum composition". does not explicitly consider halogens, or other "volatile" minor constituents, but semiquantitative effects probably estimated; empirical easily expanded in number refined value if need is indicated by evidence.
