摘要: The provenance of gem stones has been interest to geologists, gemologists, archeologists, and historians for centuries. Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) provides a minimally destructive tool recording the rich chemical signatures beryls (aquamarine, goshenite, heliodor, morganite). Broadband LIBS spectra 39 beryl (Be3Al2Si6O18) specimens from 11 pegmatite mines in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine (USA) are used assess potential using principal component analysis determine specimen provenance. Using this technique, three beryl-bearing zones Palermo #1 (New Hampshire) can be recognized. However, compositional variation within single mine is comparable that all states. Thus, very large database with detailed location metadata will required routinely
