摘要: Keratoconus (KC) is a bilateral, progressive disease characterised by corneal thinning, ectasia, variable degree of irregular astigmatism and resultant mild to severe reduction in visual acuity. Multiple advances imaging topographic mapping have led better understanding the its progression. Traditionally, use spectacles rigid contact lenses has been primary mode treatment early KC, while keratoplasty choice advanced cases. However, development an array therapeutic options over last decade revolutionized approach this disease. The preferred for KC shown paradigm shift from lens fitting as long tolerated, followed Penetrating Keratoplasty (PK) or Deep Anterior Lamellar (DALK), Ultraviolet-A (UV-A) induced collagen cross-linking (CXL) stabilize ectasia term. Recently, Intrastromal Corneal Ring Segments (ICRS), Phakic IOLs, application excimer laser combination techniques all made significant contribution providing effective management different stages Bowman layer (BL) transplantation new technique that recently introduced alternative PK/ DALK eyes with unsuitable either UV-CXL ICRS. By means article, we aim provide summary these recent trends optimal keratoconus.
